Our Client, a leader in commercial real estate and facilities/asset management is seeking to add a Construction Project Manager to its team. This role will work in Washington, DC and works Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm. This is a contract to hire role that pays $55-58.50 per hour. Upon conversion this role offers increased compensation, an annual bonus plan, and a strong benefit package.


Job Summary:

As a Project Manager for our esteemed university client with 65 buildings under management, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of project management, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, quality control, safety, and risk assessment. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently with minimal oversight while effectively communicating with clients and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction management, with a focus on HVAC, chiller, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical projects. Quality improvement and ground-up construction experience would be advantageous.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage all facets of project management, including budget, schedule, procurement, quality, safety, and risk, with little oversight from leadership.
  • Act as a self-starter who does not require micromanagement, demonstrating the ability to take initiative and drive projects forward.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, demonstrating excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively sell work and manage expectations.
  • Identify and escalate issues as needed, demonstrating good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain flexibility and agility in addressing project challenges, always keeping the end goal in mind.
  • Ensure thorough follow-up, follow-through, and comprehensive management of projects from cradle to grave.
  • Demonstrate a "do whatever it takes" mentality, including the willingness to work occasional weekends or off-hours to meet project deadlines.


Requirements:


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in general contracting, with a focus on trade work such as mechanical and electrical projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, Microsoft Project, and Adobe; experience with Bluebeam for take-offs preferred.
  • Strong skills in managing budgets and schedules, coupled with excellent communication abilities and organizational skills.
  • Experience with general contracting, strong follow-up skills, and the ability to manage large volumes of work are desirable.
