Senior Real Estate Specialist

Working closely with the Real Estate and Project Development teams, the Senior Real Estate Specialist will analyze and cure real estate encumbrances that impact the company’s solar and energy storage projects. This capable and experienced real estate professional will join a great team with existing projects in various stages of development and will work on title curative matters as well as building processes as the company continues to scale. The successful candidate will provide title curative support throughout the development process.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Land Contract Specialist; assisting to help ensure that we have proper site control (including identification of correct landowners, legal descriptions, etc.)
  • Lead real estate aspects of project development into the construction and finance stage; including review of survey work, recommending title curative actions, etc.
  • Identify and/or mitigate key real estate risks
  • Maintain data rooms, project tracking tools and files
  • Examine title commitments to identify defects and encumbrances and provide a report of key insights and the path to resolve key issues
  • Clear complex title issues; identifying the instruments that need to be executed to solve issues, as well as the appropriate counterparties
  • Coordinate the preparation and review of ALTA/ACSM surveys, title and mineral abstract and site constraint analyses
  • Managing external consultants
  • In coordination with other departments, prepare appropriate real estate development or diligence budget requests to obtain internal approvals for major project expenses
  • Staying organized and efficient with many competing demands


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with commercial real estate development, title curative work, transactions, etc.
  • Friendly and team-oriented individual
  • Focused on solving problems and actionable feedback
  • Experience with mineral rights, water rights, and other encumbrances
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy, including word-processing, spreadsheet analysis, project scheduling and data management software.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated achiever with ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines, interested in continual learning and taking on additional responsibilities
  • Ability to consistently stay organized
  • Enthusiasm and passion for the renewable energy industry
