Mount Indie is hiring a VP of Business Development to lead the growth of a woman-owned space and technology company headquartered in Houston, TX. In order to be successful in this role, you should possess a comprehensive understanding of various space and defense markets, encompassing commercial space services, comprehensive system and product development, and traditional government engineering services. This role will spearhead and manage the company's business development and sales endeavors, encompassing strategic planning, capture, teaming, marketing, proposal development, as well as overseeing associated budgets and personnel.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an integrated sales and business development strategy to facilitate new business growth objectives.
  • Supervise the establishment, documentation, training, and implementation of an efficient business development process and toolkit, resulting in successful new business proposals.
  • Recruit and nurture a proficient business development team, providing leadership, mentorship, and management to both direct report and matrixed personnel.
  • Lead initiatives to identify, capture, win, and seamlessly integrate new business opportunities aligned with annual and long-term company goals.
  • Execute business development programs within allocated budgets, in alignment with the company's strategic plan.
  • Supervise the creation and submission of white papers and responses to inquiries such as requests for information and sources sought.
  • Serve as the face of the company to existing and potential clients, as well as broader audiences at conferences and similar platforms.
  • Cultivate enduring relationships with clients and partners to support long-term growth strategies.


Qualifications:

  • Experienced with, and has established relationships in, at least two of these market areas: 1) DoD engineering services; 2) NASA engineering services; 3) spaceflight product or system development (human spaceflight preferred); 4) commercial space services is highly desired
  • Minimum of 10 years of business development leadership experience in one or more relevant market areas, with a proven track record of securing significant contracts.
  • Demonstrated success in driving business growth and achieving desired outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Eligible for Top Secret Clearance.
  • Deep understanding of government and commercial procurement practices.
  • Expertise in cost and pricing techniques and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with typical contract terms and conditions.
  • General technical understanding of space system development and operations preferred.
  • Experience in selling commercial services, particularly within the commercial space market, is desirable.
