Role Description
Job Summary: We are seeking a talented and experienced Independent Contractor-Communications Specialist to support our organization in crafting and executing strategic communication plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in writing, public relations, and digital media, and will be able to manage multiple projects independently while meeting deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation: Develop high-quality written content for various platforms, including press releases, blog posts, newsletters, social media updates, and marketing materials.
- Strategic Communication: Design and implement communication strategies that align with the company’s goals and target audiences, enhancing brand visibility and engagement.
- Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with media contacts, draft press materials, and coordinate media outreach to secure coverage in relevant publications.
- Social Media Management: Create and manage content for social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, to increase brand awareness and engage with followers.
- Campaign Development: Plan and execute communication campaigns, including promotional activities and public relations events, to drive engagement and support organizational objectives.
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with internal teams and external partners to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication across all channels.
- Market Research: Conduct research to understand industry trends, audience preferences, and competitive landscape, and use insights to inform communication strategies.
- Brand Messaging: Ensure all communications align with the company’s brand voice and messaging guidelines, maintaining a cohesive and professional image.
- Crisis Communication: Develop and implement crisis communication plans as needed, providing guidance on messaging and managing public perception during challenging situations.
- Reporting and Analytics: Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies, using metrics and feedback to refine approaches and improve outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience as a Communications Specialist, Public Relations Specialist, or similar role, preferably in a freelance or consultancy capacity.
- Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages tailored to various audiences.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in content management systems, social media platforms, and communication tools.
- Creativity: Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative communication strategies and content.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines independently.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- Flexibility: Ability to adapt to different client needs and work in a dynamic environment.
Preferred:
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with specific industries or sectors relevant to the clients you’ll be working with.
- Portfolio: Demonstrated portfolio of previous work, including writing samples, campaign reports, and media placements.
