Structural Steel Estimator


  • Prepare pricing estimates, including developing a takeoff of all material and labor required for the project. This takeoff will be combined with outside vendor pricing to produce a complete project cost estimate
  • Work with outside vendors to request and receive project-specific pricing to meet firm deadlines
  • Coordinate with operations and outside vendors on how the job is to be built in both our shop and in the field
  • Coordinate with the customer to help ensure we are providing a complete package with a thorough understanding of the project schedule and project-specific requirements

Physical Requirements:

  • Work will be performed in an indoor office environment. Position requires long durations committed to independent reading and computation. Strong concentration skills necessary.

Required Skills:

  • Strong Knowledge of structural and miscellaneous steel estimating.
  • Experience with ready and analyzing architectural and structural drawing, including design drawings and specification documents. Ability to read shop drawings
  • Microsoft software applications including MS Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Emphasis on the ability to manipulate Excel spreadsheets.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
