Automotive Fabrication Technician


Job Summary:

Our client in Raymond, OH is looking for a Fabrication Technician. This is a contract position.


What You Will Do:

Welder/Metal Fabricator.

Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate and/or modify metal parts and components from blueprints or 3D data.
  • Use saw, shear, metal brake, oxygen/acetylene torch, grinder, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Select proper equipment and set voltage and wire feed settings.
  • Weld from a variety of positions to obtain proper strength and appearance.
  • Participate in meetings, projects, and activities in support of company and team goals.
  • Maintain proficiency in relevant knowledge skills and in the use of equipment applicable to the position.
  • Communicate (verbal and written) with customers, engineers, management, and technicians.
  • Understand and apply appropriate policies and procedures relevant to the position.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Other tasks within the scope of this position.


Basics:

  • Experience welding using Tig & Mig equipment.
  • Experience utilizing basic hand tools.
  • Follow blueprints & layout specs.
  • Experience welding steel, stainless, aluminum, and their alloys.
  • Must pass a welding test.
  • Familiar with calipers, tape measures, and other standard measuring equipment.
  • Experience using forklifts, cranes, and the physical ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • CAD/CATIA experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic math skills, ability to interpret the metric system.
  • Maintain welding & related equipment.
  • Monitor fitting, burning & welding processes.
  • Examine completed workpieces for defects.
  • Setup & operate fabricating machines.
  • Locate & mark work-piece bending & cutting lines.
  • Positive manner of performance, team player, good written and verbal communication skills.
