Nesco Resource is looking for a dedicated and experienced Controller for our client to lead the accounting and financial operations for their manufacturing division. As the Controller, you'll play a pivotal role in managing financial transactions, overseeing reporting processes, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial data. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Finance and offers a chance to make a significant impact within a dynamic and innovative organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Compliance: Exemplify safety and environmental stewardship while adhering to Company policies, including the Code of Business Conduct. Foster a positive, respectful work environment aligned with our client's values.
- Financial Reporting: Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings. Prepare journal entries, analyze account variances, and coordinate audit processes. Ensure the generation of accurate and timely consolidated financial statements in line with IFRS and internal policies.
- Financial Systems and Controls: Develop and maintain robust financial systems, schedules, and metrics. Provide regular updates on the division's financial status and uphold internal controls.
- Costing and Budgeting: Oversee raw materials costing and collaborate with Operations leadership to develop forecasts, annual budgets, and capital budgets for plants. Analyze monthly results to drive financial performance and cost reduction.
- Inventory and Cash Management: Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of monthly inventory movements. Manage accounts payable and receivable with precision, and oversee cash forecasting and reporting.
- ESG Reporting and Risk Management: Lead the preparation of annual Corporate ESG data reporting. Conduct risk assessments and manage risk reporting.
- Team Development: Coach and mentor the Accounting team to enhance performance, efficiency, and accuracy. Manage day-to-day accounting processes, ensuring meticulous tracking and reporting.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with senior leadership and external customers to support strategic decision-making and maintain strong relationships.
- Deep understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations, including standard costing principles.
- Proficiency in Oracle or similar accounting/ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, data management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with strong follow-through abilities.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
- Adaptability to change and flexibility in working hours during critical financial reporting periods.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA designation is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in accounting within a manufacturing environment; experience with metals or heavy manufacturing is highly desirable.
