SUMMARY: The Medical Staff Services Specialist has primary responsibility for the verification of practitioner credentials and the facilitation of reappointment in a timeframe compliant with medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, policies, accreditation standards and regulatory agency requirements. The Medical Staff Services Specialist also assists the director, Medical Staff Services, in coordinating the administrative functions for the Medical Staff, and helps maintain an open line of communication between the Medical Staff and Hospital Administration.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years experience in credentialing in a hospital setting preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively and strong customer services skills required. Must have ability to function effectively as a team member. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy required. Must be able to handle a large volume of work and be able to work efficiently with little or no supervision.

OTHER: Must have the ability to attend to close visual detail for extended periods of time, the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with various people, including telephone and computer communication as well as verbal and auditory communication. Must be able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time. Routinely deals with challenging situations requiring effective listening skills, tact and diplomacy.

LICENSE/CERT: Preferred: NAMSS (National Association of Medical Staff Services)

EDUCATION: Required: High School or Equivalent, Preferred: Associates - Related Field, Bachelors - Related Field
