Job Description:


MEI has a job opportunity for Design Program Manager to be an integral member of our team. This team member will play a critical role in overseeing and coordinating technical projects within the data center and general construction industry. This team member will be responsible for facilitating effective communication with key stakeholders to ensure project completion. This role will be highly collaborative amongst MEI staff and clients therefore requires exceptional communication skills, the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects. Experience collaborating with project teams, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to assist in developing MEP/A/S/FA/FP design concepts, specifications, and performance requirements. Travel is not a regular requirement for this role but may be required to periodically visit sites for coordination or to obtain information on new projects or designs. This role is in-office and based in Phoenix, Arizona.



Job Duties:


  • Coordinate multiple design projects within the construction and data center industry, facilitating communication between clients, cross-functional consultants, vendors, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure project completion.
  • Coordinate and lead recurring project meetings, including status meetings and stakeholder meetings, ensuring effective communication and documentation of discussions, decisions, and action items.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders, providing regular project updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of project plans, and schedules, tracking project progress and ensuring adherence to timelines.
  • Identify and escalate project risks and issues, proactively addressing any challenges that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with clients, project managers and team members to streamline project workflows, optimize resource allocation, and drive project success.



Minimum Qualifications:


  • 10+ years of experience in project management, with a background in MEP design and construction coordination preferred.
  • Solid understanding of construction processes, methodologies, and best practices, with demonstrated experience supporting the design of construction projects from start to finish.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting MEP/FA/FP design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of architectural, structural, civil documents to understand how the mechanical/electrical systems are integrated into the building.
  • Understanding of the many common Codes for Building, Plumbing, NFPA (fire, electrical, etc.), Mechanical, and Life Safety.
  • Good understanding of Specifications Divisions and where to go in the various sections in coordinating responsibilities and various testing and documentation requirements of the project.
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and make sound engineering judgments.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically and demonstrate flexibility in order to achieve long-range objectives.
  • Ability to lead meetings effectively, ensuring clear communication and documentation of discussions, decisions, and action items.
  • Self-motivated, comfortable with ambiguity and motivated to work as a team and lead others.
  • Top-notch organization, attention to detail combined with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Proficiency with BlueBeam



Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, business administration, or a related field.
  • A valid PMP certification
