And it's why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it's worth paying for.About the RoleAs the Sales Director within the Emerging Business Group you will take a consultative, growth-minded approach to break new business and grow existing client designated categories and industries. Emerging Business Sales Directors are motivated, proactive, driven salespeople with a rich and detailed knowledge of The New York Times products and policies.You are uniquely able to manage a high volume set of accounts and our Sales Directors are team players that contribute to the goals and success of The NYT's Advertising Department, and our mission. Our Sales Directors are expected to be external-facing, meeting with clients in person and virtually frequently, and travel for client meetings will be necessary.Responsibilities:Develop new relationships at all levels with agency and client partnersBuild new business by actively prospecting, qualifying, and converting opportunities into client partnershipsManage a high volume book of businessPartner with our clients, offering products and solutions that address their challenges and KPIsProvide excellent customer service across all client and agency relationshipsResponsible for a set amount of agency and client meetings every weekConceptualize and deliver sales presentations, working in partnership with other teamsManage and reach quarterly and annual revenue goalsMaintain a rich pipeline of revenue opportunitiesMaintain the accuracy of sales systems including SalesforceCommunicate market feedback and understand the trends (both technological and cultural) that impact your category, and translate into an advertising and business contextDetailed knowledge of The New York Times editions, products and sales strategiesForecast revenue to team leader on a set base of accountsTravel as business requiresDemonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.You will report to the Head of Emerging BusinessBasic Qualifications:Experience in lead generation or securing new clientsKnowledge of NYT products, our features, our journalists and ability to present at length with clients on these topicsExperience in managing the full sales process to closeInstinctively gauge client reactions and adapt and pivot in a sales settingLead in-person and virtual sales conversations, solo and with strategic and creative partnersExperience relating to peers, managers, support staff, other teams and departments throughout the company.Preferred Qualifications:College degree or business experienceExperience in sales or account managementTeam player and contribute to the team's successGood at networking and developing new industry contactsComfortable in an entrepreneurial positionExperienced working on a diverse teamThe annual base pay range for this role is between: $105,000 - $120,000 USDThe New York Times Company is committed to being the world's best source of independent, reliable and quality journalism.
