Our employees are not only part of history, theyre making history./ppNorthrop Grummans Space Systems is looking for a Program Manager 1 to support the Integrated Thermal Systems business unit in Hanover, MD./ppIntegrated Thermal Systems is the world leader in two phase thermal control for Space applications. We have designed, manufactured, and tested thermal control components / systems for nearly every US based satellite launched in the last 30 years and many international programs. The ITS team also designs, fabricates, and tests honeycomb composite spacecraft structural panels (many with integrated thermal and electrical components). Our systems are currently supporting some of the nations most important national security missions along with more public missions such as Cygnus Space Station Cargo Re-Supply, Boeing Starliner, Artemis HALO, Direct TV, XM Radio, Broadband Internet, NASA Weather Telescope Missions, Mars Rovers, Robotic On-Orbit Satellite Servicing, and many more There are very few places in the Space Industry that offer direct exposure to the breadth of programs our business supports./ppThis position is 100% on-site./ppThe primary objective will be the delivery of all contractual requirements on cost and on schedule, while achieving all technical requirements and creating customer intimacy to support value creation strategies and actions.
The individual will lead a cross-functional organization aligned to common program performance goals./ppProgram Managers are responsible for leading all phases of the program life cycle from inception (proposal development) through startup, execution, and completion (contract closeout). Primary responsibilities are the management of cost, schedule, and technical performance of company programs or subsystems and include, but are not limited to:/pulliCultivating customer relationships and intimacy to develop further opportunities within the customer community/liliDeveloping new business opportunities through long term strategic planning, capture planning, and development of proposals and business plans/liliEstablishing a program organization that effectively addresses customer requirements and incorporates the necessary internal and external sub-organizations/liliLeading and directing cross-functional Integrated Program Teams (IPT) to meet program cost, schedule and technical performance objectives/liliMeasuring and reporting program performance/liliDelivering presentations to customers, executive management and other program stakeholders/liliParticipating in the negotiation of contracts, contract changes, specifications, operating budgets, schedule milestones, and key terms and conditions./liliEstablishing design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test./liliCreation, review and finalization of the program Statement of Work/liliIdentification, distribution, tracking, and completion of program requirements/liliEstablishment and management of the program and subordinate baselines/liliDevelopment and adherence to budget baselines utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) or similar cost schedule control methodologies and tools/liliIdentifying, allocating and managing program resources, including workforce planning/liliManaging Government/customer supplied property or information (GFE, CFE, etc.)/liliManaging suppliers to meet program objectives./liliAdherence to all internal processes, policies, and applicable industry standards/liliEnsuring program team understands and adheres to contract scope, and manages change through control board activities/liliDevelopment and adherence to master plans and schedules/liliConducting thorough risk opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realization/li/ulpBasic Qualifications:/pulliBachelors Degree in Engineering or related STEM degree with 5 years of experience in project management experience; OR a Masters degree with 3 years of project management experience./liliStrong problem-solving and organization skills in both independent and team environments Program Managers in our group often dual hat as PMs and Systems Engineers/liliExperience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements/liliDemonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal/liliTrack record of maintaining excellent internal and external customer relationships/liliOutstanding written and verbal communication skills/liliAbility to adjust communication to audience (from manufacturing technician up through customer and executive management)/liliAbility to work independently with limited oversight and ability to fill in the gaps and move forward with incomplete information/liliUS Citizenship is required/li/ulpPreferred Qualifications:/pulliExperience in both Engineering Project Management or IPT roles/liliSystems Engineering experience/liliProposal Management and/or Business Development experience/li/ulpPrimary Level Salary Range: $127,000.00 - $190,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
