The LITIGATION PARALEGAL position is responsible for proper organization of client files, preparation of discovery documents, preparation of files for trial, generation of expert witness list, preparation of exhibits for trial, internet and other research as required and acquisition of discovery materials.

Paralegals must understand the court system and legal procedures for handling cases. They must have a professional appearance and demeanor and be capable of understanding the legal issues involved in each matter they are handling. They must accept responsibility for meeting deadlines, properly billing for their time, executing all assignments in a timely and complete manner, and maintaining effective communication with attorneys, clients and others to advance their cases. Paralegals work in an office environment with minimal amounts of walking, climbing and lifting required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Filing and indexing correspondence and pleadings in accordance with firm procedures.
  • Preparation of HIPAA motions/orders, Witness/Exhibit Lists, Expert Disclosures, Trial Subpoenas

and other documents.

  • Preparation of draft responses to interrogatories and motions, letters and other drafts as

requested.

  • Preparation and maintenance of expert witness lists, exhibits, depositions and court documents in

client files.

  • Organization of client files, preparation of sub-files and indexes as established under the firm’s procedures.
  • Preparation of exhibits for trial, including reproduction, bates stamping, labeling, and enlargement.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Familiar with Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Reliable transportation is a must.
  • Familiarity with PCLaw or other similar billing platform.
  • Familiarity with Aderant Total Office (ATO, formerly Client Profiles).

Education and Experience:

Paralegal Certificate of College PREFERRED

At least five years related litigation paralegal experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Work in an office environment with minimal amounts of walking, climbing and lifting required.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
