Breakwater Strategy, a strategic communications and insights agency, is seeking an entrepreneurial and energetic professional to join a growing team of strategic communications advisors based in Washington, D.C. Breakwater advises companies, brands, coalitions and non-profits on how to navigate change, crises, and complexities.


We are looking for someone to fill this position who is eager to rise to the challenge and join a smart, energized and growing team. Candidates who have 3-4 years of relevant experience (and/or commensurate postgraduate education) are best suited for this position at Breakwater.


Candidates should be:

Responsibilities:

  • Public affairs and communication strategies: Working with the team to devise, develop and implement effective communications strategies across a range of channels and stakeholders to support our clients’ needs.
  • Creative and technical writing: Writing op-eds, speeches, talking points, briefing books, white papers, survey questions, and memos on quick turn with a high level of autonomy and responsibility.
  • Insight-driven thinking: Using research to inform relevant and practical insights for our existing clients and in support of new business opportunities.
  • Policy monitoring: Staying abreast of policy developments to inform our teams, our clients and public affairs strategies.
  • Social media: Effective at using and providing advice on the use of social media to assist with clients’ strategic communications strategies or crisis communications.
  • Internal collaboration: Supporting and critiquing each other’s work across client accounts, in pursuit of relentless self-improvement as individuals, a team, and an agency.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus 3-4 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
