JOB OVERVIEW

 

An analyst at TRC…

  • Is a blend of a data scientist and a business analyst
  • Work with raw (uncleaned) data files to extract information
  • Apply univariate, bivariate, and multivariate techniques as appropriate to answer questions
  • Understand business objectives to plan and execute analyses
  • Work thoughtfully to solve problems and arrive at conclusions
  • Explore the data and understand multiple approaches may be required before gaining insights
  • Clearly communicates (written & orally) the implication of results to non-analysts
  • Plays a crucial role in contributing to client projects
  • Work in a team setting, where each member has unique but inter-dependent tasks
  • Responsive to team communication
  • Work within tight deadlines
  • Performance has a direct impact on a project’s success
  • Performs tasks independently with minimal oversight
  • Juggles multiple projects at a time
  • Is inquisitive and self-motivated to research, discover, learn, and utilize new methodologies and technologies

 

Qualifications

·      Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science or equivalent

·      Progress towards or completion of a Master’s degree a plus

·      Some professional work experience a plus

·      Experience working on team projects

·      Experience answering questions with data

·      Experience applying statistical methods, machine learning, and natural language processing to solve problems

·      Experience working with raw data files

·      Proficiency in data wrangling and data cleaning

·      Proficiency in R and/or Python programming languages (2 years minimum)

·      Proficiency in Excel

 

This position is junior-level. Candidates are expected to perform in a professional work environment and have a high-level of comfort working with data. Specific methodologies will be trained as necessary.

TRC operates on a hybrid in-office/remote work schedule. Employees are expected to be in-office 1-2 times a week.
