Job Title: Senior Production Planner

Reports to: Production Manager/Operations Manager

Job Summary:

The Senior Production Planner is responsible for managing the flow of components onto the production line and scheduling product builds to ensure timely delivery of products to customers. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of the production line, meeting customer delivery dates, and minimizing delays or stockouts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the flow of components onto the production line, verifying parts/components brought to production line by material handlers
  • Schedule production of orders to meet agreed-upon delivery dates, taking into account lead times, production capacities, and available resources
  • Monitor and control production schedules in real-time, making adjustments as necessary to ensure on-time delivery of products
  • Coordinate with material handlers to ensure accurate and timely receipt of components and materials
  • Communicate with customer support team to provide updates on any deviations from the production schedule, out-of-stock components, and any other issues that may impact delivery dates
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve any issues that arise during the building of products, ensuring that quality standards are met
  • Analyze and optimize production schedules to minimize delays, reduce inventory levels, and improve overall efficiency
  • Utilize Oracle (or other ERP systems) to manage and track production schedules, inventory levels, and order status (if applicable)
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including material handlers, engineers, and customer support teams
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes as needed
  • Provide training and guidance to junior production planners as needed

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a production planning or scheduling role in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of production planning principles and processes
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Experience with Oracle (or other ERP systems) is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in a lighting manufacturing environment or similar industry
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques
  • Certification in supply chain management or operations management (e.g. APICS-CPIM)
