Position Title: Senior Paralegal FLSA: Non-Exempt

*Position Summary*
The Senior Paralegal will support attorneys with document preparation, review, client interviews, and legal research. They will investigate cases, conduct fact-checking, and ensure the accuracy of legal materials. Reporting to an attorney, the Senior Paralegal will supervise and mentor junior paralegals and legal assistants, creating a collaborative work environment. This role suits those aiming to enhance their legal expertise and leadership skills in a supportive and challenging legal setting.

*Essential Duties/Responsibilities:*
* Lead and manage paralegals and/or a team of legal assistants.
* Coordinate and allocate casework, and oversee the work of others to ensure efficient case management.
* Review cases thoroughly before submitting them for attorney review, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
* Provide mentorship, guidance, and feedback to paralegals and legal assistants, fostering their professional growth and learning.
* Draft well-reasoned legal arguments and revise declarations to support cases effectively.
* Compile, proofread, and revise drafts of legal documents and reports prepared by legal assistants, ensuring adherence to legal standards and formatting guidelines.
* Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis on complex legal matters or cases, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
* Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations accurately to ensure compliance and support legal strategies.
* Collaborate and communicate effectively with USCIS, other immigration agencies, clients, and teammates to facilitate smooth case management and client satisfaction.
* Organize and maintain information systems, including databases and tracking systems, to ensure efficient case management and record-keeping.
* Respond promptly and professionally to all case-related inquiries from legal assistants and other departments, providing accurate and timely information.
* Maintain a consistent attendance record and availability
* Perform additional duties as assigned to support the legal team and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

*Skills/Abilities:*
* Proficiency in written and oral Spanish. Fluency is essential.
* Strong knowledge and experience in key legal principles
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
* Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
* Supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to inspire a team and share the firm's vision
* Detail-oriented and excellent time management skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively
* Proficient in MS Office Suite/Google Suite, including Word, Excel, Google Docs, and Google Sheets
* Good judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality

*Education/Experience*
* Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies or related field, or equivalent related experience required.
* Paralegal certificate preferred, but not required.
* Minimum of 7 years Legal Assistant or Paralegal experience required.
* Immigration law or litigation experience is highly preferred, but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
