Description:

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting an Electronics Technologist. The Electronics Inspector/Electronics Technologist is responsible for planning, coordinating, performing, and directing the design, layout, installation, maintenance, calibration and repair activities related to the department’s continuous traffic data collection program.This requires methodical analysis, monitoring, and maintenance of complex interconnected data collection and communication systems to ensure the continuous collection and transmission of traffic data to the Department’s Traffic Data Management System.Duties also involve monitoring equipment output for outliers, using methodical analysis and specialized diagnostic equipment to efficiently troubleshoot, identify and resolve issues, coordinating and directing district personnel, providing oversight of contractors, ensuring efficient communication and the completion of projects in a safe and efficient manner, and conducting ongoing research and development activities to ensure the current and future needs of MDT’s statewide traffic data management program are met.Work is typically performed in remote areas of the state under indirect supervision.The position reports to the Electronic Equipment Unit (EEU) Supervisor and does not directly supervise others.
