Salary Range: $74,- $78,

General Nature of Work

·Manages the overall comprehensive Environmental Health program for Dougherty County. Provides exceptional customer service and maintains HIPAA standards related to Privacy and Security

·Manages professional-level and clerical staff

·Reviews applications, prepares permits and reports

·Fieldwork may require working in adverse weather

·Inspects restaurants, home/building sites, septic tanks

·Investigates/responds to potential health hazards

·May be assigned to assist in other counties in the district

·May drive company vehicles (valid driver’s license required)

·Inspects and Audits assigned facilities/sites for compliance

·Responds to Public Health Emergencies

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

·Master’s degree

·Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Registered Sanitarian by the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) or the recognized credentialing board of a state or country having equivalent standards as NEHA

·Previous employment with any state’s Department of Public Health or a County Board of Health

·Previous supervisory/management experience

A State Merit Application for Employment must be received by this office no later than the deadline . Highlight any experience related to the Preferred Qualifications . This position may require driving company vehicles (Valid driver’s license required) and working some evenings and weekends during special events such as health fairs and responding to disasters. Selected applicant must consent to a motor vehicle record assessment. Points should be less than 10 and/or not negatively impact insurance rates for the agency . Drug screen, criminal background check, and immunization records may be required. If selected, male applicants between 18 and 26 years of age must present proof of Selective Service Registration. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university which included the completion of 27 semester hours (or 40 quarter hours) in laboratory science (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, physics, etc.) AND Two years of experience as a PH Envir Compl Specialist 4 (RCP123) or position equivalent OR One year of experience as a PH Envir Compl Specialist 5 (RCP124) or position equivalent.
