Supervising Dental Assistant, Correctional Facility

Job Description and Duties
LimitedTerm 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
Under direct supervision of the Supervising Dentist, Correctional Facility (CF), and the clinical direction of the treating Dentist, CF, the Supervising Dental Assistant (SDA), CF provides support, training, supervision and leadership to Dental Assistants (DA) CF. The SDA, CF plans and directs the duties and overall DA, CF responsibilities at California Medical Facility (CMF), and ensures compliance with program standards within the guidelines of the Inmate Dental Services Program Policies and Procedures, and State and Federal regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience as a dental assistant (training in a school for dental assistance may be substituted for the required experience, on the basis of six months of training being equal to twelve months of experience), And;
Possession of a current license as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) in California. (Applicants who do not meet the requirement will be admitted to the examination, but must secure the required license before they will be considered eligible for appointment).

Special Requirements
The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired. The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired. The position(s) require(s) a(n) valid State of CA Dental Board issued R.D.A. License. Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.
Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
