Coordinator of the student program for Interventional Radiology (IR). Orchestrate daily student clinical rotations. Coordinates and collates the evaluation of students clinical and didactic performance. Schedule student on-call, student classes, and clinical rotations. Work with the student clinical coordinator to ensure the most effective instruction and valuable clinical exposure. May fill in for Lead Technologist on specified days.

Prepares Program using the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology as a guideline. Academic and clinical curricula are reviewed and maintained in accordance with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist guidelines annually. Program policies and procedures are reviewed, revised and maintained annually. Academic and clinical policies and procedures are reviewed, revised and maintained annually. ASRT code of ethics is adhered to through the program. UVAHS organizational needs are evaluated as a guideline for programmatic direction. Serves on Piedmont Virginia Community College Radiology Advisory Board. Standards are established and maintained for the academic and clinical requirements. Standards are established that will position program for JRCERT accreditation in the future. Academic schedules are prepared prior to student start date and revised as needed. Clinical rotations are scheduled prior to student start date. On-call schedule is completed no later than 2 weeks prior to the start of the month. Monitors student clinical hours through student documentation. Works with IR manager to track after hours worked by students. Monitors classroom material to ensure compliance with curriculum. Attends classes periodically to monitor instructor effectiveness. Ensures course evals are completed to solicit feedback from students about instructor effectiveness. Course outline, objectives, and descriptions are reviewed and revised annually. Delegates and assigns duties to the Clinical Coordinators as appropriate. Feedback for improving the student clinical work is sought out from the radiologists. Collaborates with NeuroRadiology and Cardiac Cath staff to provide instruction and student experience in procedures provided in those areas. Provides formal didactic instruction as required (i.e. Film critique, next step challenge). Formal didactic instruction for clinical labs is provided as indicated in a clinical/didactic instruction schedule Courses must include descriptions, outlines, objectives and collected at the completion of each course. Course descriptions, outlines, and objectives are reviewed and revised annually. All courses, grades and evaluations are completed and/or submitted in the designated time frame. Performs and reviews all clinical evaluations and monitors student progress to ensure compliance with program clinical standards. Clinical evaluations are completed to monitor student progress in clinical rotations at the end of each clinical rotation. Guidelines to monitor students progress are provided to support technical staff. Competency and clinical grades are maintained on a semester basis. Works with Clinical Coordinators to provide expected procedural experience and to meet ARRT exam requirements for VI boards. Participates in recruitment, admissions, continuing education and student counseling. Works collaboratively with IR Program Medical Director. Participation in recruitment fairs at high schools, colleges and with human resources is provided and documented on an annual basis. Student interview and selection process is coordinated in delineated deadlines. Conducts regular meetings with Clinical Coordinators Continuing education requirements and credentialing requirements are maintained. Clinical, behavioral and academic counseling is provided to students utilizing the resources of the program, advisory committee, and Health System policy. Instructional and evaluative techniques are maintained through continuing professional development. Provides procedural support for a variety of patient procedures. Operates imaging equipment. Performs scrub, circulating, and image processing. Appropriate sterile techniques is practiced & demonstrated. Stays engaged in procedures. Performs quality assurance duties Supports inventory management efforts. Patient satisfaction is optimized by minimizing wait times and ensuring effective communication to patient and family. Position Compensation Range: $37.47 - $59.95 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: AA in Radiography or equivalent

Experience: Five years in a progressive IR department

Licensure: ARRT - RT and VI or CV

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
