The Virginia Department of Social Services, Division of Family Services (DFS) is currently seeking a Prevention & Protection Project Manager. In collaboration with DFS programs, this position is responsible for planning, managing, budgeting, and implementing projects, contracts and initiatives to support Division outcomes and goals especially those related to Prevention/In-Home and Protection programs, and the Child Protective Services/Adult Protective Services Hotline performance objectives. Monitoring project progress and setting deadlines to support efforts across the entire Department to align policies, programs, processes, resources and staff to achieve the system-wide goals; Managing, directing, and tasking staff across VDSS divisions to advance division, program and special human services projects/programs goals; Conducting comprehensive research to inform strategies for project management and using outcome data to drive decision-making and planning and to ensure benchmarks are met; Supervising efforts to establish and integrate an agency practice model that sets forth the Department's standards of professional practice; Leading cross-functional teams made up of agency staff and stakeholder groups related to any assigned project or program; Resolving issues that arise during the project implementation; Become familiar with funding associated with the project; Determining the appropriate strategies, processes, and resources necessary to advance projects/programs especially within the Prevention/In-Home and Protection Programs Unit; work closely with the Data Program and The Office of Continuous Quality Improvement, if needed, to evaluate project performance.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience managing, leading, coordination, and successful implementation of multifaceted projects specific to child welfare. Demonstrated experience in the administration of human services and child welfare services in progressively responsible positions. Experience with project management, conducting presentations, and effectively communicating data and analysis in a manner that is understood by various target audiences, such as family services workers, managers and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability in accountability, adaptability, budget management, creativity, leadership, delegation, decisiveness, forecasting, strategic thinking, time management and stress management when managing projects. Knowledgeable in change management, project management, and implementation science principles. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills is necessary. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Extensive experience with Microsoft Suite, especially the development of PowerPoint presentations.

Additional Considerations

Extensive experience in child welfare work in a Virginia local department of social services. Extensive experience in Prevention/In-Home and Protection programs and the Child Protective Services/Adult Protective Services Hotline and working with community partners. Supervisory or team lead experience (as it relates to delegating responsibilities and monitoring task achievement). Experience with implementation science and/or organizational change and development in child welfare. Certification in Project Management and Change Management.
