Daily tasks will include developing, preparing, and interpreting various types of formal reports, and working with the administration/technology vendor for the Rental Assistance Program (RAP) and Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV). The Research Analyst will be responsible for duties that vary depending on program or project:
Analyze, interpret and prepare data in a variety of ways. Prepare narrative and statistical reports. Develop computerized databases and analyze and interpret computer generated reports. Perform related duties as required. The successful candidate will have strong report creation and analytic skills, and will report to the Housing and Community Development Manager.

The Department of Housing, as the lead agency for housing matters for the State of Connecticut, is responsible for the creation of environmental review records for more than ten (10) federal grant programs associated with affordable housing and community development activities.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In a state agency this class is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in research design and implementation.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Six (6) years of professional experience in research, data analysis or economics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree. A Master's degree in economics, statistics or a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience. Successful completion of a Connecticut Careers Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for the General Experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience summarizing analytics and statistics in housing. Experience in statistical modeling. Experience in statistical programming. Experience in data management software. Experience with statistical power analysis.
