We are seeking a Case Aide (Social Service Assistant) to join our Medford Child Welfare team.

What you need to qualify 

  • One year experience assisting professionals in one or more specialized social programs such as family services, children services, senior services, mental or developmental disability services, substance abuse programs, juvenile corrections programs, or occupational skills programs; OR

  • Possession of a current certification in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Addiction Counseling Preparation, or Juvenile Corrections; OR

  • 45 quarter hours, or 30 semester hours of college course work in sociology, psychology, early childhood education, criminal justice, human services, juvenile corrections, or occupational skills training; OR

  • An associate degree in a field not closely related to Social Work/Human Services AND six months of human services related experience (i.e., work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, mental or physical disabilities, juvenile prevention, health, cultural competencies, and/or inadequate housing).

  • Demonstrated ability to engage children and families under time-sensitive and difficult circumstances, to gather information and make informed decisions using informed practices that are inclusive of the child and family’s language, race, and culture.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with cultural humility (in-person and over the phone) to the public, service providers, and families.

  • Experience being flexible and adapting to the needs of the team.

  • Experience conducting work that requires attention to detail.

  • Experience working with diverse populations.

  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and recognizing intersectionality and the roots of systemic oppression that impacts all protected classes.

  • Experience using prioritization and organization to manage workload and meet deadlines.

As a Case Aide, you will: 

  • Play a critical role in assisting Caseworkers in achieving positive outcomes for children and their families.

  • Support Caseworkers by completing paperwork, completing referrals, transporting children, and completing administrative tasks.

  • Work with families and children in the community. Community work will consist of transporting children and taking case notes.

  • Have a unique opportunity to be involved with several different cases, interact with a wide range of people, and enjoy a position where not one day will look the same as the next.

Working conditions 

  • Your work will be conducted in the office and in the community. 

  • Travel with the purpose of transporting children is required. Some travel may be hours away.

  • You will work a professional work week where the hours of work may fluctuate to meet service needs. Occasional compensated overtime may be required, including evening and weekend work.

  • You may come into contact with individuals who have experienced trauma and have difficulty controlling their emotions.
