The Adult Protection Services Caseworker undertakes investigations and assessment into allegations of mistreatment, exploitation, and neglect of at-risk adults, per Colorado Statute. This includes conducting home, community, and facility-based visits to assess for risk, identified necessary support services, development of case plans, documentation, collaboration with community partners and working within a multi-disciplinary to access appropriate services and supports for at risk adults. Additional roles include preparing court reports, attending court hearings, and testifying when necessary. Jefferson County Adult Protection Services is committed to providing person centered approaches when engaging with clients and their support network which may include family members, friends, or professionals. 

Target Hiring Range: $64,052.56 USD Annual  

Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills. 

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, in-office training is required, followed by the eligibility for Personal Choice Model (combination of office and remote work).

Essential Duties:  

Assess allegations of adult abuse and neglect. Gather background and collateral information. Make referrals to community or system-based services. Prepare court reports, provide court testimony and attend hearings. Create a case plans. May conduct home and facility placement visits. Communicate community agencies and attorneys for reports and consultation. Document all case information and progress in the State CAPS system and case files. Establish goals and deadlines to meet goals. Visit monthly with adult to assess for safety and well-being. Collaborate with various community partners, resources and agencies to meet all state requirements for adult protection outcomes. Work with multi-disciplinary teams, supervision and meetings to ensure best action is taken. May participate in agency, community and State workgroups and committees.  Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Qualifications:  

Minimal Qualifications: 

To qualify, a candidate must meetthebullets listed below:

A bachelor’s degree from a higher education institution with course work related to the job responsibilities of an adult protection services caseworker. Course work examples can include and are not limited to, social work, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, and human services, and, 

Professional, internship, or volunteer work experience in ahuman servicesrelated agency. Some examples of appropriate experience mayinclude: experience with older adults, work within residential settings such as assisted living, skilled nursing or memory care, case management with intellectual and/or development disabilities, mental health case management, domestic violence case manager, paid victim's advocate, probation officer, law enforcement, corrections work, shelter experience, forensic interviewing, professional work, educational work, and/or other related case management experience

OR any combination of education and experience. 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Preferred - Experience in Human Services field.  Strong customer service skills  Strong written and oral communication  Strong leadership, mentorship, and/or supervision skills Independent critical thinking and analysis Demonstrating initiative, innovation, and resiliency Ability to articulate clearly and effectively to varying levels of customer Experience with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 Experience entering and tracking data Strong written and verbal communication. Strong time management and prioritization skills. Ability to work well with diverse and different personalities. Proficiency in processing paper and electronic records per established records management protocols.
