Customer Meter Coordinator

This is high-level problem-solving work managing customer relationships in the Business and Customer Services area of the Utilities Department with opportunities for remote work. Responsible for ensuring the fiduciary accountability associated with the processing and accurate allocation of billing meters to utility customers for billing of services. This position requires the oversight and management of all customer billing meters and the integration between the SAP billing system, City Works, and GIS systems.

The employee in this important position will audit billing meters to the SAP customer accounts and will perform all corrections as needed, leveraging the software systems used in Utilities and Pinellas County to ensure accurate billing to our customers. Monitor all meter activity integrations with City Works/GIS to ensure high percentage of successful and accurate automated transactions. Be proactive and act quickly when integrations fail, or percentage of successful automated transactions drop. The employee in this position must maintain constant collaboration, cooperation, assistance, communication and interaction with other divisions and departments, such as, but not limited to: Utilities Maintenance, Utilities Customer Service sections, Business Technology Services, Badger meter, and external vendors and municipalities.

This position requires proficient use of a wide spectrum of tools in performance of their duties: SAP (including EDM), City Works, GIS, Beacon AMI system, ESRI, ArcGIS desktop, Everbridge (Alert Pinellas), Excel, MS Word, Access, Visio, and Outlook.

Responsible for developing standard operating procedures, work instructions, educational materials and conduct training for staff as it relates to the functions of this position. This position is also responsible for analyzing and recommending improvements and/or enhancements to internal software system process flows; as well as creation of functional process flows for possible improvements across multiple section/divisions. The employee in this position will be accountable and responsible to assist and/or lead employees for projects assigned to the Customer Services section to include but not limited to utilization of existing SAP queries, reports, and SAP transactions; developing ad hoc SAP queries in the gathering of data, analyzing the data that has been extracted, and presenting a final product to the requesting party.

The employee in this position also will act as a backup to other positions in our section including Alert Pinellas responsibilities.

What Would You Do?

Process and accurate allocation of billing meters to utility customers for billing of services. Ensure fiduciary accountability associated with allocation of billing meters to utility customers. Audit billing meters to customer and make any corrections needed. Monitor all meter activity integrations with City Works/GIS.  Maintain constant collaboration, cooperation, assistance, communication and interaction with other divisions and departments, such as, but not limited to: Utilities Maintenance, Utilities Customer Service sections, Business Technology Services, Badger meter, and external vendors and municipalities. Utilize the following software: SAP (including EDM), City Works, GIS, Beacon AMI system, ESRI, ArcGIS desktop, Everbridge (Alert Pinellas), Excel, MS Word, Access, Visio, and Outlook. Utilize existing transactions and create queries to aid in performance of responsibilities. Develop educational materials and conduct training for staff as it relates to the functions of this position. Act as a backup to other positions in our section including Alert Pinellas responsibilities. Perform related work as assigned or required.

What Do You Need to Have

Experience: Analytical management of AMI meters used for automated billing, collection, fiscal records, audit, accounting, finance, customer relations or purchasing matters that includes lead responsibility for responding to customer requests and problems or related field.

Degree: Business, finance, accounting, public relations or a related field.

4 years’ experience as described above. Associate’s degree as described above, and at least 2 years’ experience as described above. Bachelor’s or higher-level degree as described above. Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
