Job SummaryLower 48 - Permian Overview

The Lower 48 represents the largest ConocoPhillips business segment today based on production, with high-quality positions in the U.S. unconventionals. The transformational acquisitions of Concho Resources Inc. and Shell Enterprises LLC's prolific positions in the Delaware and Midland Basins in 2021 further strengthened the company's position in the Permian Basin. Nearly 70% of the company's 2023 Lower 48 production came from the Midland Basin and Delaware Basin assets.

Description

The senior analyst, Permian Communications, is a key member of the Lower 48 communications group, which is part of the broader Business Communications team. The role will have accountability and responsibility for developing and driving internal and external communications, strategies and tactics that support the company's Permian assets within the Lower 48 business unit. The senior analyst will proactively identify and deliver effective, measurable communications.

The role requires significant levels of self-management, content development and interaction with all levels of the business unit and across functional teams. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in areas such as internal and external communications, project management, employee engagement and leadership communications. In addition to functional expertise in critical communications, public relations and outstanding writing skills, the senior analyst must be able to write content to influence a variety of stakeholders: employees, industry peers and leaders, digital and traditional media and community members.
Job Description
Your responsibilities may include:
  • Drive internal communications strategies and plans that engage employees and promote understanding of the company's strategy and values
  • Support content development and logistics for leadership town halls
  • Provide timely and clear employee communications for nearly 2,000 employees across six field offices and two states and a large Midland campus, including newsletters, digital signage, event communications and intranet content
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to leaders of cross-functional groups such as Real Estate & Facilities Services, Human Resources and IT to support Midland campus-specific communications needs
  • Build company reputation and name recognition through strong social media content development and local public relations efforts across the Permian Basin in partnership with community investment and stakeholder relations teams
  • Develop content for the company's internal and external websites
  • Evaluate existing communications vehicles and recommend new strategies/channels to increase effectiveness, with a focus on two-way, measurable communications
  • Act as a supporting member of the business unit's crisis response team
  • Translate complex information into creative and effective communication concepts

Basic/Required:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Communications, Public Relations, related field, or foreign equivalent
  • 1 or more years of experience in communications
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS O365 applications: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams

Preferred:
  • 1 or more years of experience working directly with senior leaders
  • Self-starter, able to work autonomously
  • Proven project management skills
  • Strong writer with editing experience and knowledge of AP style
  • Superior communications, collaboration and networking skills
  • Ability to influence others through communications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Awareness of oil and gas industry terminology
