AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Traffic Engineering Co-Op for employment in the Middleton, WI office.

This position is expected to begin in January 2023.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist traffic engineers and project managers on projects related to traffic capacity analysis, feasibility studies, traffic modeling, signal design, signal timing, signal systems, ITS, traffic operations, safety analysis, traffic impact analyses, bicycle and pedestrian studies and other related traffic engineering work

  • Design alternatives for intersections and other transportation improvements based upon guidance from senior staff, client requirements and industry standards

  • Compile, process and assess a variety of data to identify trends and draw conclusions that can be used to enhance operations/maintenance of transportation infrastructure

  • Perform plan preparation associated with roadway infrastructure improvements

  • Work under the direct supervision of senior staff to develop plans and calculate quantities for transportation improvements

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an interest transportation engineering (highway design / traffic engineering) or other related field required

  • Must have completed one year of study

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understands fundamental engineering concepts

  • Must be able to communicate effectively; verbal and written

  • Completed transportation design course or other applicable civil courses

  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD
