Responsibilities:
  • Assess the socialemotional service needs and infrastructure and develop implement and periodically evaluate a capacity building resource and service plan.
  • Design and implement comprehensive mental health programming and direct service.
  • Collaborate with school administration and staff to integrate mental health awareness and education into the school curriculum and culture.
  • Develop improve and support coordination systems with nearby agencies and schools to expand enhance and improve services.
  • Enhance the school’s knowledge and implementation of effective behavioral supports and interventions positive climate strategies youth development and family engagement.
  • Serve as an internship field supervisor actively participating in intern recruitment placement training and completion of all required paperwork.
  • Provide direct counseling services to students in need including individual group and crisis intervention.
  • Develop referral systems and followup support for students requiring specialized mental health services.
  • Support teachers and staff in identifying and addressing students mental health needs.
  • Coordinate and/or provide clinical case management group and individual counseling to students and actively engage families making home visits when appropriate.
  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention; develop treatment plans and implement interventions.
  • Recognize a behavioral health crisis following a critical incident and consult with school leadership to organize a response including triage and followup with students parents and school staff.
  • Follow all legal mandates for reporting suspicion of physical and sexual abuse danger to self or others and other legally required exceptions to confidentiality.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of the mental health programs and initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Possession of a Masters degree from an accredited school in social work marriage and family therapy psychology or counseling.
  • Possession of a Marriage and Family Therapy Clinical Social Work or Clinical Psychology license from the applicable licensing authority: California Board of Behavioral Sciences or California Board of Psychology is required.
  • Must meet the state licensing authority criteria to clinically supervise interns.
  • The equivalent of three (3) years fulltime postgraduate case management and/or counseling experience with youth (524 years of age) and families in a school or schoollinked community setting that serves children youth and families and addresses educational outcomes.
  • Certification of Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) combined with two additional years of postgraduate counseling or case management experience working in a school school district or community setting.
