Summary


This position is located in the Audiology Service at VA Ann Arbor Health Care System (VAAAHS). The Audiologist has administrative and supervisory responsibilities for the audiology clinics throughout VAAAHS. In addition to administrative and supervisory responsibilities, the audiologist will function as an independent staff audiologist at the full performance level. the audiologist is the Service Chief for the Audiology Service, and is a direct report to the facility Chief of Staff.

Duties

The Audiologist is a Service Chief for a service-level department in a large, complex, or multi-division facility. Incumbent has broad and overall responsibility for a service-level department, or its organizational equivalent in large, complex, or multi-division facilities. The Audiology Service Chief is responsible for the daily management of staff and clinical activities in audiology clinics throughout the entire VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, including offsite locations such as Packard Road, Toledo, Jackson, Adrian, and Canton CBOC's within the VAAAHS; this will also include any future CBOC sites which might utilize Audiology staffing and services. In carrying out the administrative, supervisory and educational duties the audiologist must demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate the goals and objectives for individual staff and for the service; to provide direction and oversight for an interdisciplinary team; to evaluate individual and group performance in order to accomplish program goals; and to serve as coach and mentor for the clinical team members. In carrying out the clinical responsibilities the audiologist must demonstrate advanced knowledge in contemporary audiology practice. The Audiologist will participate as a member of various leadership committees, as assigned, such as Chief of Staff Advisory, Clinical Executive Committee, etc. He/she is tasked with providing active leadership and decision making for the Service and the organization, is responsible for strategic planning, the budget process, and performance improvement initiatives. The Audiologist develops and administers a formal, systematic performance plans for reviewing, appraising, and continuously improving each phase of clinical and administrative activity. He/she is responsible for assuring that services provided by this Service meet the standards set by accrediting agencies, including The Joint Commission, OIG, SOARS, etc. In conjunction with the Clinical Executive Committee, the Chief works to assure that any issues and deficiencies are corrected according to standards.
