Responsibilities



The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is seeking multiple qualified postdoctoral research associates to join the Nuclear Chemistry Team, which supports the goals of the Nuclear Sciences Division. The ideal candidate will support a mass spectrometry capability in the Radiochemical Processing Laboratory. Candidates will support research related to nuclear forensics, nuclear fuel fabrication, and post irradiation examinations. The candidates will be expected to work with a team of researchers, contribute to future proposals for research funding, and adhere to a culture of safety. Hands-on experience with TIMS, ICP-MS, noble gas mass spectrometry, or gas mass spectrometry (MAT-271/MAT-253) is required. Additional experience with laser ablation or work with radioisotopes would be an asset.

The candidate must have experience with TIMS, MC-ICP-MS, ICP-MS, noble gas mass spectrometry, or gas mass spectrometry (MAT-271/MAT-271 Ultra or MAT-253/MAT-253 Ultra), or related techniques (glow discharge, EI- MS). Candidates with ESI-MS or ESI-MS/MS experience working with inorganics may also be considered. The ideal candidate will have experience with ion exchange chromatography. Experience working within a team with multiple analytical methods is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work individually and as a team member.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in geology, chemistry, radiochemistry, nuclear engineering or related degree.
Hazardous Working Conditions/Environment

Work will be in the RPL, a nuclear facility.
Additional Information

Due to business needs and client space, US Citizenship is required.
