The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Develops knowledge of scope control and change management.
  • Exposure to basic scheduling and cost baseline fundamentals, concepts, and principles.
  • Introduced to financial terminology, measures, concepts, and principles for analysis of financial data.
  • Exposed to processes that increase recognition of financial impact of various project actions.
  • Exposure to WBS concepts and principles.
  • Research data for subsequent use in analyzing cost and schedule analysis.
  • Developing ability to use drawings and specifications.
  • Exposed to progress/performance data and associated concepts and principles. Assists in the collection of progress data and review of performance trends.
  • Develops knowledge of earned value concepts, principles and methodology.
  • Collects data and produces an initial analysis on manpower, labor hour, and labor cost requirements versus budget limitations.
  • Provides support for tracking purchase orders and subcontract commitments and expenditures.
  • Prepares or assists in cost estimates for each project phase conceptual, schematic design, design development and construction documents
  • Develops knowledge in preparing cost estimates in UNIFORMAT II and CSI format
  • Ability to concentrate in one or more of the estimating disciplines, including architecture, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, civil and structural
  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of order-of-magnitude, preliminary, definitive, change orders and check estimates using appropriate methods and techniques
  • Performs cost comparison analyses between in-house estimates and contractor proposals
  • Works with Project Managers and other disciplines to evaluate appropriateness of budgets
  • Utilizes the appropriate company and industry historical data for cost estimates
  • Performs local market unit price research for all construction disciplines through Subcontractor and supply chain.
  • Prepares project and discipline estimate summaries in AECOM and Client formats
  • Prepares detailed quantity take-offs on design and construction documents as required utilizing software such as BlueBeam Xtreme or Extreme, On-Screen Take-off, etc.
  • Provides technical assistance and advice in negotiating contracts and pricing change orders.
  • Establishes and maintains cost databases and product line specific parametric analysis tools
  • Develops knowledge in the estimate reconciliation process with the project team
  • Prepares bid packages, conceptual estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids etc. for projects
  • Maintains consistent and period communications with project stakeholders
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience of progressive construction cost estimating experience.
  • Bachelor’ degree in engineering, architecture, or construction
  • Must have an understanding of construction means, methods, and sequences
  • Demonstrated knowledge of RS Means, NECA, and other industry standard cost estimating reference books
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to manage work requests on multiple projects at the same time
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to read and interpret contract requirements and to read engineering drawings
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office Products Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with crew and production based estimating
  • Prior field project engineering experience
  • Prior experience in new building construction and renovation retail projects.
