Summary

The Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisor is primarily responsible for the leadership, administrative management and operational efficiency of the Outpatient Pharmacy. This will include budgetary execution. The incumbent will prioritize work to meet established targets for outpatient wait time, number and type of medication errors, mail turn around time, out of stock rate, prescription processing time, rate and accuracy of completing consults.

Duties may include but not limited to: Provides first line supervision to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians as well as supervision for Pharmacy students/residents and volunteers working in the area Develops and contributes to the development of performance standards and competencies, assures that the program area is compliant with all regulatory and accrediting body requirements, designs and implements orientation and training programs for staff, and develops and maintains systems to monitor the performance of staff activities Manages staff, maintains effective interdepartmental relations, and cooperates with other services to accomplish the medical facility's mission and goals Actively and effectively participate in DVAMS, develop and implement a leader standard work, monitor huddle and improvement boards, submit and or prepare OPI metrics and assist with service Watchlist Directs and coordinates all related Outpatient Pharmacy / Ambulatory services to facilitate the delivery of health care to patients will be directly responsible for programs to include controlled substance, methadone clinic, community care, ERXs, ScriptTalk, ePharmacy, clozapine, discharge, REMS, IPLEDGE, MUETs, MAPS, contact center, AudioCare, and CMOP. Acts on a daily basis to work under a variety of circumstances to maximize productivity and quality in support of efforts of Pharmacy leadership to accomplish facility goals Works to improve the patient experience based on reported scores and feedback from the veteran Expected to report all administrative and operational concerns with the Service Chief in a timely manner Supervises the daily operation of Outpatient Pharmacy to meet established patient wait times and to ensure that mail prescription dispensing, packaging and extemporaneous compounding are accomplished within the set times established by the pharmacy service Responsible for the accurate recording of daily time and attendance for all assigned employees Will provide advice, counsel and instruction to subordinates concerning technical and administrative matters Responsible for the development, revision and implementation of policy and procedures, SOP's and Job Instruction Sheets relevant to areas/functions under his/her supervision to include developing effective operational policies to ensure proper control for the compounding and dispensing of all therapeutic and diagnostic agents and supplies furnished to beneficiaries Assists the Chief, associate chief and other pharmacy supervisors in establishing and accomplishing the pharmacy mission and goals including setting and implementing long and short term goals for Outpatient Pharmacy Serve as chair, prepares agendas and minutes for Outpatient Pharmacy staff meetings Demonstrate working knowledge and capability to review/develop budget requests based on examination of applicable fund control points and spending trends Effectively develops and manages the pharmaceutical budget Formulates budgetary plans and forecasts Implements corrective operational actions to address budget variances Assists Pharmacy Leadership with compliance with all safety, regulatory and accrediting body requirements and acts to ensure that the service meets established performance measures and metrics Completes all required supervisory training and facility assigned training by established due date Oversight responsibility for receiving, dispensing, storage and destruction of controlled substances Effectively contribute to quality management monitoring of established dashboards, metrics and update accordingly by established due dates

Work Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8am-4:30pm, with rotating tours as well as weekends and holidays to assess workload
