Waterbury, United States River Branch Community School Full time

River Branch Community School is seeking a full time infant teacher and a full or part time program teacher to forge trusting relationships with children and their families.

The infant teacher is responsible for creating a developmentally appropriate curriculum and child centered programming within a nature based early education program. The program teacher is an integral position to the overall functioning of our school working with all children aged 0-5

The ideal candidates will have experience working with young children, strong communication and organizational skills and a collaborative approach to early childhood education. The infant teacher position requires a thorough understanding of The Vermont Early Learning Standards, developmental assessment tools (ASQ, ASQ-SE), and developmentally appropriate practice. Our program is committed to nature education and a love of the wild.

RBCS strives to provide a safe and nurturing educational environment where children are free to take risks, to wonder and to form meaningful relationships with peers, teachers and the natural environment. Our interactions with children are based on the belief that even young children are competent, intelligent and inquisitive beings. Through play and hands-on investigations, we guide each child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. We view the environment as the third teacher and spend our days exploring our own 2.5 acres of natural meadow and forest as well as nearby community fields, trails and streams.

Our teachers are compensated by a yearly salary that is commensurate with their education and experience. RBCS is open Monday through Friday and teachers are expected to be available between the hours of 7:30AM- 4:30PM.

Benefits include over five weeks of combined time off, 50% child care discount, free professional development, plenty of snacks, a lot of bagels and the occasional pizza. We are a close and supportive community of educators who value each other and the work we do.
