Summary

Serves as the operating accountant, and is responsible for the detailed and efficient operation and control of day-today fiscal activities at this health care system. The incumbent must be experienced in applying professional concepts and methodologies as well as knowledgeable in functional program characteristics and requirements.

Duties

Major Duties: Provide analysis and technical expertise for accounting services. Make inquiries in accounting database. Prepare accounting adjustments and review monthly status report. Reviews monthly reports and general ledgers. Resolve recurring problems in the reconciliation of reports and insures compliance. Prepare reports, automated system changes and/or standard operating procedures. Interface with appropriation / accounting functions. Perform timely certification, legality of funds and the efficient. Gather and analyze data from a variety of sources. Resolve propriety questions and outstanding balances. Prepare timely accurate accounting documents. Provide management with basis for financial planning. Safeguard public funds and other funds ensuring compliance. Provide guidance and assistance to lower grade accountants, and accounting technicians. Other duties as assigned Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
