Responsibilities



This position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with organizational strategy, commitments, and goals. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party resources in order to deliver projects according to plan. Also responsible to define the projects objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. Key attributes leading to the determination of upward progression in this career family include: project complexity, risk, team size, business volume, contract type, and political/client/business sensitivities.

Other responsibilities include:

Drive and track interdependencies across work streams, communicate status and maintain team metrics. Tracking and analyzing monthly costs and commitments for a group of growing projects; including develop and maintaining
estimates to complete and financial spreadsheets with current and accurate data, preparing and submitting accruals. Assist in preparing monthly financial reports in accordance with program guidance. Soliciting and compiling input from Principal Investigators and Project Managers for monthly and quarterly reports. Assisting in soliciting and compiling project records for retention and input to program share. Initiate and manage subcontracts through acquisitions lifecycle. Identify and resolve bottlenecks and provide escalation management. Strong stakeholder engagement skills. Manages with integrity to lead task and project plan development, build cohesive teams, and steward process improvements.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

BS/BA and 5+ years of relevant project management experience -OR- MS/MA or higher and 3+ years of relevant project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

A graduate degree in data science, mathematics, computer science or related field. A track record of working with subject matter experts, engineers, and scientists. Experience working in or familiarity with computer vision, spectroscopy or other sensor data, and/or modern neural network
techniques. Previous project management experience, including training in Project Management and Agile/continuous improvement
development. Basic understanding of Data Science. A proactive approach to problem solving and demonstrates creativity/initiative in addressing new challenges. Possesses a comprehensive understanding of effective project management practices and principles and demonstrates proficiency
in applying a disciplined approach to project management. Have ability to drive and influence Agile project management methodology and practices. Demonstrated effective communication and presentation skills, efficiently multi-tasks, and successfully communicates with both
internal and external project stakeholders.

Additional Information

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance. 

Requirements:

U.S. Citizenship Background Investigation: Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter in accordance with 10 CFR 710, Appendix B. Drug Testing: All Security Clearance positions are Testing Designated Positions, which means that the candidate selected is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. In addition, applicants must be able to demonstrate non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for the 12 consecutive months preceding completion of the requisite Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP). 

Note: Applicants will be considered ineligible for security clearance processing by the U.S. Department of Energy until non-use of illegal drugs, including marijuana, for 12 months can be demonstrated.


Testing Designated Position

This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The candidate selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing for illegal drugs, including marijuana, consistent with the Controlled Substances Act and the PNNL Workplace Substance Abuse Program.
