About the Position
As the Senior Staff Engineer, you will lead the execution of a robust process of design, creation, and optimization, with a focus on cold section modules designs. You will also lead component design engineers through the interpretation of requirements, the performance of design trade studies, the selection and implementation of the best design options, ensuring the design is properly integrated, and incorporating the design into production and field service.

The Senior Staff Engineer will serve as the lead for projects focused on design and analysis, as well as field and production support. Your technical expertise will be crucial in iterating on existing processes and designs, while also providing mentorship to team. Your responsibilities will involve organizing and collaborating with cross-functional teams, including mechanical design and analysis, thermal design, materials engineering, data science, manufacturing, quality, and program management.

As the Senior Staff Engineer, you will need to demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role, you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering for all products
  • Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
  • Execute and provide guidance for the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures, and the product / program requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design or systems integration experience.
