Job Description:
Community Liaison performs complex (journey-level) consultative services and technical assistance work. Work involves planning, developing, and implementing an agency program and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, government agencies, community organizations, or the general public.
May provide guidance to others.
Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
This position can be housed in any office in Region 7. This position does not report to an office and is primarily remote work. This position does not do on call. This position may require you to travel to other regions. Essential Job Functions:
This position works to build community capacity to prevent placements in unlicensed care and to transition children out of unlicensed care into safe settings.
The community liaison position will work directly with the state lead, DFPS Director of Placement, DFPS Regional Director, Clinical Coordinators, courts, community stakeholders, hospitals, other providers, and individuals with lived experience.
At the regional level, the Community Liaison position would work across sectors to educate caseworkers, families and other providers about the services and supports available to prevent a crisis.
The primary responsibilities include identifying and developing relationships through direct contact with community stakeholders to build and sustain capacity for placement for DFPS youth. This includes improving upon existing relationship with community resources and supports to prevent youth from coming under DFPS Supervision.
Works directly with community stakeholders to build capacity for the children who are experiencing temporary emergency care.
Establishes or participates in provider meetings including CRCG’s to discuss needs of youth under DFSP Supervision.
Assist primary team in conjunction with the Clinical Coordinator with services for the youth.
Identifies gaps in service and works with appropriate teams to link youth and worker to appropriate service provider.
Works closely with the Clinical Coordinator, Trauma Informed care Specialists and Psychiatric Hospital Workers to ensure timely, planned discharge and permanency for all youth under DFPS Supervision.
Initiates diligent searches, FINDERS searches to provide to Clinical Coordinator.
Works with probation and TJJD liaison to promote planned discharge from jail or juvenile into placement.
Creates and updates community resources available in the regions and share with teams.
Attends unit meetings to discuss role and how the three teams can support program staff.
Develops and hold annual community events to build capacity.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to the program area; public administration andmanagement techniques; statistical analysis processes; research techniques; training and marketingtechniques; and program management processes and techniques.
Skill in identifying measures or indicators of program performance and the use of a computer and applicable
software.
Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; to devise solutions to problems; to market programs;to prepare reports; to develop, evaluate, and interpret policies and procedures; to communicate effectively;and to provide guidance to others.
Knowledge of evidence-based clinical practices related to adolescent behavioral health.
Knowledge of theoretical treatment alternatives for adolescent psychological disorders.
Knowledge of trauma informed care as it relates to individuals and systems.
