Role
·Provide standard clinical professional services to students within the parameters of school policy and guidelines
·Conduct assessment of students in areas such as regulation, fine motor, self care, social interaction
·Design and implement programs in collaboration with teachers, parents / carers according to students¿ individual needs and based on developmental level and age appropriateness.
·Document, record and accurately report on student involvement, evaluate progress and make recommendations for future programming.
·Provide information about special access equipment and physical barriers within the school environment as required by staff, parents / carers.
·Attend meetings eg staff, therapy and case conferences .
·Manage and maintain Occupational Therapy resources
·Complete comprehensive reports which include factual analysis and recommendations for consideration by the family and school
·Facilitate individual or group programs for clients
·Conduct training and instruction for school staff and parents where needed within the professional field
·Explain professional concepts and approaches to clients, stakeholders, colleagues and staff
·Provide operational leadership and strategic planning with respect to professional service delivery
·Other duties as directed by the Principal.
Responsibilities
The initial responsibilities of this position will be:
Effective assessment monitoring and reporting of student's individual needs. Implement therapeutic programs through individual, small group or whole class settings. Provide support to student's families or carers through direct and indirect means ( meetings and developing/providing resources) Effective organisation management and promotion of teamwork. Effective communication skills. Evidence of professionally sensitive communication with parents /carers and students. Provide evidence-based services consistent with accepted professional and organisational policies and procedures Leading the development and implementation of therapy-based programs (small group withdrawal program for students requiring therapeutic support. This includes:- preparation of curriculum materials
- preparation of formal reports for parent / teacher interviews
- training and mentoring Education Staff and Allied Health Assistance in the delivery of the program. Providing therapy to individual students or small groups of students as required Providing high level advice in the area of expertise to the Principal Class and school level personnel as required Contributing to the collaborative work and functioning of the school wellbeing team; attending meetings as required, and providing leadership in initiating service improvement Performing other duties appropriate to the classification as requested to assist in the effective delivery of services Maintaining detailed notes and records relevant to the program. Collaborative skills and willingness to work as part of a broader team supporting students including their classroom teachers, learning specialists, integration aides, intervention specialists and families Provide feedback about any changes or experiences within student classrooms that might affect a student¿s therapy plan Write summary notes outlining the support provided within sessions clearly and promptly by end of each workday Assist in the preparation of therapy resources including photocopying, printing, and laminating Participate in the monitoring of individual student¿s progress towards their learning goals Undertake professional development activities to maintain and enhance skills Being an active member of the staff team.

·Brinbeal Secondary College is one of the newest 7 - 12 Secondary College in Melbourne¿s west.The school opened its doors to its first cohort of Year 7 students in 2024 to a purpose built, state of the art educational facility.
