Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist for employment within our Environmental Remediation Practices group in the Charlotte NC office to lead our industrial asbestos/lead/mold program which includes inspection, design/plan, and abatement oversight and management.

This is an Asbestos Technical Lead -track position, therefore, the ideal candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative team-environment, foster team building through inclusion and mentorship, display a high level of organization and communication, have excellent technical writing and editing skills, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn from Project Managers. For the right candidate, this position holds significant growth potential.

Tasks will include:
  • Preparing and technical editing of reports and other technical documents.
  • Compiling, evaluating, and analyzing environmental data
  • Conducting/managing asbestos surveys, lead paint inspections, mold / indoor air quality surveys, and universal and general hazard inventories surveys
  • Mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative
  • Travel within a geographic territory conducting inspections; travel to project locations including driving and overnight stays
  • Field document preparation, field data collection, processing and interpretation

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, or closely related field and 6+ years of experience in environmental consulting and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Asbestos Certification (Inspector, Project Monitor, NIOSH 582, and/or Supervisor and Designer)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
  • 8 years of experience in environmental consulting
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER training
  • Asbestos Certifications (Inspector, Project Monitor, NIOSH 582, Supervisor and Designer)
  • Experience with Lead Paint Inspections and Indoor Air Quality Inspections
  • DOT and RCRA Training
