Responsibilities include training, instructing, scheduling, estimating, and reviewing work in order to ensure that quality work is completed in a timely manner to meet the needs of the customers and the mission of the unit; provides verbal feedback to the custodial supervisor on the performance of the individual being overseen. Incumbent will schedule assigned work orders according to custodial supervisor direction.Incumbent will advise the Physical Plant Supervisor on the condition and of the total building systems to include structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing in assigned buildings. Incumbent will inspect assigned area monthly and report all building deficiencies such as corrosion, excess vibration, leaks, paint decay, excessive noise, and odors.Incumbent is responsible for the coordination of work with other base agencies. Incumbent will have frequent contact with vendors and base customers. Incumbent shall train base personnel on the operation of custodial equipment as directed. Incumbent is required to work with the building manager in assigned buildings to ensure customer satisfaction is obtained and required equipment is identified.Incumbent performs minor maintenance and recurring maintenance on selected building systems in the assigned areas. These responsibilities will vary from building to building and may include any of the building systems. Duties include (not limited to) bathroom fixture repair, exit/emergency light testing and repair, fluorescent lamp/ballast replacement, lawn sprinkler system repair, clearing of plugged drain lines, aerator replacement, carpet square and ceiling or floor tile replacement, HVAC filter replacement, and door weather seal replacement. Incumbent may be required to install items for customers such as (not limited to) dry erase boards, plaques, clocks, modular furniture accessories…only after coordination with custodial supervisor. Incumbent will be required to maintain the grounds and landscaping as directed by the State supervisor. This will include (not limited to) riding and push mowing, weed eating, pulling weeds, shoveling and power blowing snow, applying ice melt, cleaning sidewalks, emptying cigarette butt and outside trash cans, picking up cigarette butts, picking up loose trash, etc…

Incumbent will use and dispose of chemicals in accordance with all label information and pertinent regulations.

Incumbent will be required to use computer systems to (not limited to) send and receive information, input daily time data, request parts or supplies, and complete computer based training.

Other duties as assigned. Duties include putting up tents, moving furniture, escorting contractors.

Qualifications: Education/ Experience : Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have current Kansas Drivers License. Minimum Qualifications : Physical ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 80 pounds, ability to work in high areas, and normal color vision is required.Incumbent will be subject to occasional recall for emergency work and overnight travel.Skill in use of tools and in the operation of equipment commonly used in maintenance and repair of building systems. Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements : Must have a valid Driver's License and the ability to qualify for a military drivers license. Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance as a Condition of Employment.
