THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services, Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services, South Mountain Secure Treatment Unit provides dedicated, high-quality care to at-risk youth residents. We are seeking an energetic, dedicated, cooperative and motivated Licensed Practical Nurse to join the team at South Mountain Secure Treatment Unit.



DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in this position is responsible to perform nursing duties to provide medical/dental/mental health care for the residents at South Mountain Secure Treatment Unit (SMSTU).

Provides direct nursing clinical care to SMSTU residents and makes appropriate referrals as necessary to ensure that residents‘ medical needs are met.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement.
  • Shifts and Days off Vary - Rotating shifts to cover 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM & 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM.
    Rotating on and off duty days including weekends and holidays (every 3rd weekend, every 3rd major holiday)
    • Rotating shift work in 24/7 facility
  • Travel: As needed
  • Overtime: As needed
  • May change based on operational needs.

  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $66,076 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Special Requirements:
  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
