Position Summary:

Multiple OITS Internship opportunities. Here are the opportunities currently available:

Technical Writer (creating and editing technical documentation, newsletters, and/or project award nominations) Contract Administration/Contract Analyst Data Analyst (collecting, compiling, & reporting) Disaster Recovery

This engagement will give the intern an opportunity to learn basic aspects of the respective departments they will support. They will also obtain an understanding of how their service applies to the agency's essential services while giving them the experience of public service. It also allows the agency to contribute to the growth and development of these necessary skillsets for the State of Kansas workforce.

Internships with OITS are paid, hands-on training designed to develop and prepare you for a career.

Interns can pursue learning opportunities in multiple areas of IT, Information Security, and Administration. They can expect to be introduced to numerous tools and concepts of the respective fields. In addition, individuals will have the opportunity to have an immediate impact on current State of Kansas efforts and focus on individually defined goals that may benefit the OITS team.

Required skills:

Enrollment or recent graduate in a related degree program (Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate) from an accredited college or university. Related programs include but are not limited to: Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Information Assurance, Cybersecurity, Information Management Systems, mathematics, Human Services, Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy etc. Or enrollment in recognized apprenticeship program that is registered with the State of Kansas Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter. Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences. Superb written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail Ability to present complex data in clear, concise text. Ability to meet deadlines and to work independently. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Applicants for this position must pass a fingerprint based national background investigation.

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Proficiency in documentation management. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills. Highly collaborative Strong desire to learn. Ability to problem solve. Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving environment. Positive attitude
