Norfolk, United States Careers@Gov Full time
[What the role is]
The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is Singapore’s central bank and integrated financial regulator.

As central bank, MAS promotes sustained, non-inflationary economic growth through the conduct of monetary policy and close macroeconomic surveillance and analysis. It manages Singapore’s exchange rate, official foreign reserves, and liquidity in the banking sector.

As an integrated financial supervisor, MAS fosters a sound financial services sector through its prudential oversight of all financial institutions in Singapore – banks, insurers, capital market intermediaries, financial advisors, and stock exchanges. It is also responsible for well-functioning financial markets, sound conduct, and investor education.

MAS also works with the financial industry to promote Singapore as a dynamic international financial centre. It facilitates the development of infrastructure, adoption of technology, and upgrading of skills in the financial industry.

Join us now, if you have a genuine interest in making an impact to help shape Singapore’s economic and financial landscape.

[What you will be working on]

You will be part of a dynamic team within the Technology & Cyber Risk Supervision Department in MAS that is responsible for strengthening the cyber resilience of Singapore’s financial sector.

In this particular role, you will be leading a team that is responsible for conducting surveillance, research and analysis to monitor the latest trends and developments in cyber threats/attacks, assess the risk implications to financial institutions in Singapore, and participate in initiatives to strengthen cyber situational awareness and resilience in the Singapore financial sector. The work undertaken by the team encompasses the following:

  • Gather and analyse cyber threat information and intelligence from various sources to derive insights on the latest attack tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs), attack trends and patterns, as well as threat actors’ profiles

  • Provide technical support on the analysis of cyber incidents, as well as recommendations on the incident response and mitigation measures

  • Disseminate relevant information to both internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, to provide early-warning on impending cyber threats and promote greater cyber situational awareness

  • Administer test-beds to study malware and exploits, as well as evaluate cyber security applications, rules/signatures, access controls and configurations of security platforms

  • Implement projects and initiatives to continuously improve the team’s research and intelligence capabilities

In addition, you can also be expected to drive projects and initiatives in one or more of the following areas:

  • National and financial sector CII protection and cybersecurity initiatives

  • Cross-border cyber collaboration and intel-sharing with other financial authorities, government agencies and strategic partners

  • Cybersecurity workshops and exercises to strengthen cyber resilience in the Singapore financial sector

You will be working in a fast-paced environment that will require the ability to manage multiple priorities and needs of stakeholders, as well as the agility to respond to changes and developments.

[What we are looking for]

  • Proven track record with 10 or more years of working experience in IT/cyber security or related fields, and at least 2 years in leading a team and managing projects

  • Effective leader and team player, who thrives under pressure and possesses strong communication, critical thinking and stakeholder management skills

  • Technically competent and well-versed in the key principles of cyber security and risk management, and the relevant industry best practices

  • Good understanding of cyber threat intelligence (CTI) and what the work entails

  • Ability to think critically and strategically to guide team members in conducting effective threat and risk assessments

  • Having relevant professional qualification/certification (e.g. CISSP, CISM, SANS-SEC511, SANS-FOR578, SANS-FOR610 etc.) will be beneficial

All applicants will be notified on whether they are shortlisted or not within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting.

As part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.
