We are hiring a Family Engagement Facilitator (Social Service Specialist 1) to join our North Bend team

Minimum Qualifications: What you need to qualify
A bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a field related to human service
OR
A bachelor’s degree unrelated to Human Services and either:
1) One year of Human Services related experience; OR
2) Completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency
OR
An associate degree and either:
1) Two years of Human Services related experience; OR
2) One year of Human Services related experience and related training, coursework or certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency.
A valid driver license and acceptable driving record are necessary for this position.

Effectively & successfully experience navigating challenging family dynamics, handling emotions like sadness, anger, and frustration, and managing conflicts that may arise during meetings
Experience in showcasing facilitation skills and practice model knowledge.
Experience with engaging with families by actively listening and understanding their values, needs, desires and their responses to trauma.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with various parties, striving to work alongside others, including everyone, and amplify all voices.
Demonstrated knowledge about crisis intervention, conflict resolution, behavior management, and the effects of trauma.
Experience to effectively engage with families in challenging and time-sensitive situations.
Experience to be flexible and adaptable to changing environments and priorities.
Knowledge or understanding of child development and the impact of trauma.
Experience utilizing time management, organization, and prioritization skills to track and complete tasks.

Your duties at a glance
As an employee working within the , you will have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon’s most vulnerable children and families. Your dedication will help us achieve the Child Welfare that will support children and young adults to be safer, healthier, experience less trauma and achieve a greater well-being.
As a Family Engagement Facilitator, you will:
Engage with caseworkers and families to determine specific individuals to be involved in the initial family team and address any potential barriers (i.e., protective orders in domestic violence cases, cultural/language barriers, incarceration, etc.)
Prepare families and members of the family team for what to expect from a structured meeting.
Identify and develop meeting agendas based on a thorough analysis of conditions and circumstances surrounding the case prior to the upcoming meeting.
Screen identified relatives for appropriateness to engage in case planning activities.
Educate youth, family, and other regarding how the intervention is designed to work, what the Oregon Safety Model is and how it works, the role of the courts, attorneys, and other legal parties, what to expect while engaged in the intervention, what is needed to achieve reunification or other types of legal permanency
Generate meeting notes and other documents, as appropriate, to support ongoing case planning efforts.

Working conditions
Work is done in office and community, including client homes. Families served include mandated clients who may be hostile and resistant. You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.
Some travel is required. Valid driver’s license is required.
This position requires working a flexible schedule as a condition of employment with a normal workday of 8 hours, from 8 AM to 5 PM; however, working hours may be adjusted within a given week, to provide planned services.
Occasional compensated overtime during evening and weekend work may be required. There may be some hazard winter driving and dealing with hostile clients.
On call is required on an ongoing basis based on rotation.
