The Commercial Advisor sits within the Maintenance Delivery Division and is a technical expert, contract manager and senior negotiator in commercial matters for the Metropolitan Victorian Road Maintenance Contract (VRMC). The Commercial Advisor builds effective partnerships with other experts within Maintenance Delivery, the Procurement Team, Project Managers and primarily the VRMC Contractor.

Position Accountabilities 

Maximises value for money outcomes in managing the execution of the new metropolitan VRMC. Establishes effective partnerships with Maintenance Delivery, the Capital Team, the Project Managers and primarily the VRMC Contractors.  Develops and implements appropriate risk plans and actions to mitigate commercial risk to the VRMC. Enhances the capability within the commercial team, resulting in more effective contract management and issue resolution. Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.

To be successful in this role you will be adept at driving a culture focused on value addition and return on investment, using economic indicators to inform strategic direction and manage organisational risks. You will efficiently support the business by optimising back-office functions. Your problem-solving skills will enable you to consider the broader business context, identify recurring issues, and implement long-term solutions that deliver tangible outcomes. You will develop and execute complex strategies to build buy-in from key stakeholders, effectively negotiate to achieve desired results, and influence others through well-conceived, multi-phase plans. Additionally, you will provide thought leadership on capability development, understanding external factors such as demographic trends and future workforce requirements, while fostering talent and building organisational capability.

Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory 

An appropriate tertiary qualification.
Extensive contract management experience and in resolution of complex contractual claims.
