Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of the physical plant and grounds, specifically, the carpentry of agency buildings. Identifies and provides quality customer services and helps to provide quality support services to Larned State Hospital and all programs in pursuit of their missions.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Supervises Staff

Supervises (2) Carpenters Supervises (1) General Maintenance Repair Tech Sr. Supervises (1) Storekeeper Specialist Supervises (2) Painters

Participates in Daily Carpenter Department Assignments and Projects

Responsible for employee evaluations Supervises daily maintenance and repair of agency projects Subject to emergency callback, standby and irregular hours Responsible for overseeing the completion of all Carpenter Department P.M.’s Performs carpenter duties when all supervisory duties are completed / as time permits

Coordinates Activities

Schedules daily activities to assure compatibility between departments

Job Estimates

Prepares daily job estimates Procures materials needed for projects

Timekeeping and Scheduling

Maintains department records for timekeeping.

Provides Training

Provides in-service training to department employees Assures that all department staff receives OSHA training and adhere to latest OSHA requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

Five years of experience in the mechanical or building trades. Education may be substituted as determined relevant by the agency.

Valid Driver’s License at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications : Prefers extensive knowledge of the practices and methods of the Carpenter trades. Knowledge of other building trades. Extensive skill in analyzing related problems in maintenance of agency buildings. Ability to communicate and work with others. Ability to manage subordinates. Ability to read and understand various blueprints and code requirements.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements : Ability to pass a KBI background and pre-employment drug test.
