Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to be based in our Houston, TX office (hybrid).

Job Summary:
• This position will involve working with a multidisciplinary team who work together to conceive, permit, design and provide construction administration support for small and large projects. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Designs heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems
• Performs Construction Administration services, including review of shop drawings, RFI’s and review of contractor proposed change orders
• Evaluates feasibility of alternative design approaches in conjunction with senior team members
• Performs site/ field visits to ascertain existing conditions including equipment condition evaluations
• Organizes/plans projects to ensure quality controls and project criteria are met and within budget
• Assists in preparing proposals and presenting to Clients
• Acts as a Project Manager assisting with workload planning, team management, and project management
• Assists with mentoring of junior staff within the Mechanical Department
• Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
• Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
• Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
• Identifies discrepancies in results.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
• Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design
elements for engineering works.
• Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS +4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
Preferred Qualifications
• 7+ years of mechanical HVAC systems design experience
• Proficiency using AutoCAD and Revit
• Ability to interact with others on a multi-discipline team
• Ability to work on multiple projects at once
• Good time management skills, a strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Proficient in Building Load Calculation and Energy
• Ability to manage projects (financials) and small project teams
• Energy Modeling experience a plus
• Cost estimating experience a plus
• Excellent Communications Skills with the ability to present designs to clients
• Additional Industry Certifications such as LEED AP, CxA or CEM
