Summary of Job Duties

A Certification Worker’s duties include:

  • Engage with Remarkable Individuals: You’ll have the chance to connect with fascinating people, hear their stories, and witness the incredible resilience they exhibit.

  • Resource Family Recruitment and Support: Your role involves identifying, assessing, and providing support to resource families, including adoptive, kinship, and resource families.

  • Matching Children with Caring Homes: You’ll help find suitable resource families for children who require out-of-home placement, ensuring that each youth’s unique needs are met. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with the team to maintain successful placements.

  • Application Review and Home Studies: As part of the process, you’ll review applications, interview applicants, and conduct home studies. These studies involve assessing an applicant’s ability to care for special needs children and youth, and meticulous documentation.

  • Interact with Diverse Stakeholders: Your interactions will span resource parents, applicants, children, caseworkers, community partners, and occasionally the court.

  • Independent and Collaborative Work: Enjoy the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively within a dedicated team committed to serving children, families, and communities.

What you need to qualify

  • A bachelor’s degree in human services or a field related to human service, or

  • A bachelor’s degree unrelated to Human Services and either:

    • One year of Human Services related experience, or

    • Completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency, or

  • An associate degree and either:

    • Two years of Human Services related experience, or

    • One year of Human Services related experience and related training, coursework, or certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency.

  • Demonstrated experience working well both independently and with a team.

  • Experience utilizing time management, organization, and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated experience writing clearly, thoroughly, and concisely with minimal spelling or grammar issues.

  • Experience working well with people from a wide variety of backgrounds through a culturally competent lens.

  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and knowledge of OneNote.
