Description

The Housing Stability Area of Hennepin County's Health & Human Services is seeking a housing case aide to be part of our housing-focused case management team. The housing case aide will not have a caseload, but will help people staying in shelters, outdoors, and in encampments with housing-focused tasks that break down barriers and connect the person to eligible benefits. This staff will work alongside 8 peers whose role focuses on supporting 30 plus Case Management Assistants to meet the needs of the clients on their caseloads. Common tasks include replacing vital documents such as ID and social security cards, transporting clients to appointments, and delivering move in kits at the time of lease signing.

Location and Hours:

This positions is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at community sites such as shelters, drop-in centers, encampments, libraries and occasionally at a county office, and remote as job duties require. This position requires working flexible regular daytime hours, Monday through Friday. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.


New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In this position, you will: Assist with tasks to help people achieve their housing goals such as helping obtain IDs, applying for benefits, applying for housing, attending appointments, and moving into housing. Learn relevant resources and referral streams to connect clients to eligible benefits and be able to make referrals to long term case management services to stabilize people in housing.  Attend regular case consults and work closely with the full housing case management team.  Work closely with supervisor to manage tasks assigned and deliver services in an efficient way that maximizes impact on the system. Drive clients to apartment showings and other appointments. Need to have: A valid driver's license, the ability to obtain a Hennepin County drivers permit, and daily access to your own vehicle sufficient to transport clients to appointments and showings and for travel to various shelters and drop-in centers throughout Hennepin County.  Nice to have: Experience:Working with individuals experiencing homelessness.Interacting effectively and respectfully with clients/customers in need.Working in databases such as ECF, SSIS and HMIS and/or online tools  Ability to:Work effectively with external and internal partners. Communicate fluently verbally and in writing in another language in addition to English. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.
