Directs the IP PT and PT flexipool at MedStar National Rehabilitation Network (MNRN) for all strategic planning, budgeting, quality outcomes and staffing. Oversees safety and integrity in clinical operations, education, research, and clinical activities inpatient PT. Collaborates with the Medical Staff, Patient Care Services and other
services leaders to ensure provision of patient focused care in outside of the organization. Directs ongoing quality improvement and improved efficiencies of service delivery. Provides leadership to clinical supervisor and staff, ensuring their engagement and morale. Holds self accountable to the organization and persons served.
Education Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program. Required and Advanced Degree in Physical Therapy or Healthcare Management Preferred orExperience5-7 years Clinical experience in a rehabilitation and/or acute care setting. Required and3-4 years Professional staff development and supervision experience. Required and Experience in teaching physical therapy treatment principles, applications and program development. Required Licenses and Certifications DC licensure or eligibility, AHA CPR Certification Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesPossesses strong leadership skills, ability to train and motivate a team.The Dir Physician Therapy must have a strong understanding of Healthcare systems and finance and time management skills.Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations.Oversees administration of operating, staffing and capital budgets in conjunction with hospital administration.Develops and implements service level goals and plans in support of and in collaboration with the organization's strategic plan and annual plan.Works collaboratively with managers from other services to develop goals and solutions in line with patient safety and needs, the annual plan, quality improvement, accreditation and improved system efficiencies. Requires the same from team members.Accountable for service level peer review and quality improvement includingimprovement of electronic systems, provision of care and program improvement in scope of responsibility.In collaboration with recruiters and Human Resources, is responsible for effective recruitment, hiring, promotional and termination decisions for all staff in scope of responsibility.Provides staffing that is in line with organization's patient population needs, budgetary guidelines and regulatory requirements.Promotes advanced practice in physical therapy, demonstrated by continuing education, advanced competencies and research efforts of staff.Promotes service's involvement in professional activities of PT.Promotes trial of and selection of current, state of the art patient care equipment which meets the needs of the patient population served.Ensures that all current appropriate team members have active current credentials required to function in their respective roles.Collects, analyzes and routinely reports on PT data regarding expenses, productivity measures and utilization review to improve fiscal operations and ensure service efficiency and effectiveness.Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
